Condensation Dynamic Control (CDC)
In traditional plants, condensation is controlled by keeping the calibration value set at a fixed point throughout the year, regardless of the conditions of the troposphere. CDC, instead, consists of a PLC equipped with temperature, relative humidity and pressure sensors and transducers , which continuously interacts with environmental factors (troposphere) and the plant pressures and, by means of a dedicated software, constantly optimises the working conditions of the compressors, evaporator and condenser. So, the condensing temperature decreases, with an increased COP (Coefficient of Performance) and less power consumption. Freddo&Co.’s CDC system has several fields of application: it can be installed on refrigeration plants working with any kind of refrigerant and with any type of compressor, condenser, or evaporator. We projected the CDC specifically for air-cooled plants. Similarly, the CDC “Light” was projected for refrigeration units with low electric power (typical in the Large-Scale Retail industry).
Evaporation Dynamic Control (CDE)
The dynamic control of evaporation is the twin version of Freddo&Co.’s CDC. The system continuously controls the various operating temperatures of the utilities to be cooled and accordingly adjusts the temperature of the refrigerant flowing into the evaporator or air cooler, so as to reduce and optimise the temperature difference to the default minimum temperature, in this case too, increasing the COP (Coefficient of Performance). The aim, in fact, is to lower the energy loss that occurs when heat is transferred between the fluid to be cooled and the refrigerant used.
Smart Defrosting System (SDS)
This system also is made of a PLC and temperature sensors that, by monitoring operation of the evaporator’s heater elements, activate a localised defrosting sequence (which leads to energy savings and optimisation of the defrosting time), on the base of factual ice accumulation of ice on the coil.
Waterfall Ice Accumulation System (WIAS)
This system can be applied to plants with serial ice storage banks. The cooling water of the utilities, instead of being configured by default to flow simultaneously and without distinction through all the banks, via PLC is made to flow entirely through the first bank in sequence, so as to ensure a continuous melting cycle and the re-accumulation of ice inside the bank. Only once this is guaranteed (thanks to temperature sensors that communicate with the PLC), the water is made to flow progressively into the other banks, ensuring maximum efficiency of the heat exchange between water and ice.
Free Cooling (FC)
This solution is based on the principle of “opening the window when it’s cold outside”. An electronic control unit constantly controls the external conditions until they are favourable, so to blow air from the outside directly into the environment through a system of motorised dampers. This air, however, always passes through the air handling unit to be filtered. The ambient air is then expelled from an extractor located near the air handling unit (with the option of installing extractors in the premises near the windows). The extraction air flow rate is calculated based on the technical specifications of the extractors already installed in the premises. This system allows high energy savings during medium and low temperature seasons, as it is possible to cool the room without the use of compressors. The system also allows you to expel the air from the environment during washing, contributing to the fast drying of the premises by making the heated external air to flow inside the room.
